Dr. Maloufi has recently re-connected to one of his life-long dreams of working with Caspian Horses. Native to Iran, this endangered breed of small horse (11-12.2 hh) has remained largely genetically unaltered for thousands of years. Dr. Maloufi, with the help of the local equine community, took on a herd of 19 Caspians from Alberta and has since assisted with the establishment of a local Caspian breeder, and helped many of the horses become invaluable school horses and children's mounts. He continues to help with the breeding program and to understand the genetics of the Firouz Caspian Horses, the original exported stock from Iran.
